Doctoral studies

The Department of Informatics of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki awards a doctoral degree in a wide range of research fields.

The research of the PhD candidates is supervised by the Professors of the Department who all have extensive research experience in their knowledge domains.

The results of the doctoral thesis research are published in leading conferences and journals that
are published by the most important scientific organizations in Computer Science, such as: Association for Computing Machinery (ACM) and Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE).

In most cases, PhD candidates are supported through competitive research programs that are attracted by the Professors of the Department, from institutions such as the European Union, Ministry of Education Research and Religious Affairs, General Secretariat for Research and Technology, State Scholarship Foundation, Hellenic Foundation for Research and Innovation. The Department’s research activities are part of a broad network of partnerships developed with major IT companies in Europe, US and Asia.

This framework offers excellent conditions for developing high-level doctoral research as it is provided the most up-to-date computing equipment (hardware and software) as well as support for PhD candidates to participate in top international conferences related to their research areas, in which are presented the most important advances in science.

Doctors of the Department of Informatics pursue careers in universities or research centers in Greece and abroad or participate in research / development departments of companies in the field of Informatics worldwide.
